I'm 24 and I'm looking to get married in the next 2 years, money is tight with saving for a house. Does anyone have any money saving wedding tips?

First things first, find out your budget. Who is contributing and how much will you be able to afford. Check yours and your fiance's credit and find out what sort of loans you're able to qualify for. Some house loans dont require a large downpayment (look into FHA). Educate yourselves! Knowdege helps make it so it isnt as scarey. Are you planning on moving before or after the wedding? Remember your sometimes get financial gifts from family for the wedding. But that depends on your family members.

Next, work out a guest list. Try to keep it moderate and be selective. Every head means more money. Establish your priorities. If any of the parents are contributing financially, find out in advance if they had specific people they had to invite. Every family is different.

Start scouting our venues for reception as the priority if having more than 75 people. When looking, find out guest min and max, what's their catering policy? Do you have to buy their booze? How much is it per head? do you need special security and a liquor liscence? Cheapest is if you know someone with a huge house and backyard (keep in mind bad weather) Second cheapest, forest preserves but downside is you have to be out by a certain time but can provide own food and booze usually. 3rd, check out park district rooms. Those are usually pretty cheap and they dont charge a ton. After them
VFW's
Moose lodge
American Legions
lions
check out eventective.com
ASK for recommendations
after those places, random banquet halls start about $30 a head and can go upwards of $100 a head plus taxes and gratuity.

Keep in mind, the cheapest places are usually booked the quickest. If you have people traveling far distances trry not to pick a date where their traveling to your wedding could put them in the middle of a snow storm. Please try not to have your guests choose between your wedding and a holiday. It's not fair and kinda rude.

Do not have a cash bar. That is tacky and just no.. dont do it.

Once you get the reception venue, that's the hardest. Look for cheap ceremony places. Remember to find out about parking and rehearsal time

dress, you have time to look.
