U K - a civil wedding would be held in a place other than a church,if held in a church its a religious wedding

the average cost of a wedding in the uk is around 11 grand but it can cost as much or as little as you like.most of the cost will be the reception.the actual ceremony (dependant on location) will be £100 - 500

you can make things cheaper by having a smaller wedding (less people to feed),getting married in 'off-season' (choose a wedding in january and youll save around 1-3 grand) and choose flowers that are in season.do a lot of things diy (invites, for example, can set you back £300+ and the more you need, the more it costs).get married earlier (like in the morning) and do a brunch for your wedding breakfast or get married mid afternoon and serve cake and punch,as long as its over by 5/6pm then guests wont expect a meal or have the reception at home and have family help you cater for it.dont have a bridal party (its traditional for the bridal couple to pay for their attendants clothes)

its possible to get married for a grand.the only thing is what you want for the day - the more services, the more cost
